On November 24, 1971 a man calling himself Dan Cooper boarded a plane from Portland to Seattle. Mid-flight he coolly handed the stewardess a note, informing her the plane was being hijacked, and demanded a $200,000 ransom and a selection of parachutes. After releasing the passengers, the plane took off again and 33 minutes later, somewhere over Washington State, at 10,000 feet, Cooper jumped. He was never seen again.
