Here's a really rare jewel. It's one of the first films of Ilse Werner (which should be already enough reason to download it) and Rolf Hansen which may sound not that stunning especially for those who associate Hansen with his later dubious melodramas. However this film is a total surprise in many ways since it shows how a young couple tries to get started in life burdened by a lack of money and other troubles. Especially the young man worries around the clock, the couple can't afford a decent apartment and the relationship begins to falter at its most crucial moment when the girl gets pregnant. It's puzzling that such a realistic film in the style of e.g. Borzage's Bad Girl was made in the Third Reich and predictably it ran into heavy censorship problems and suffered from some post production. It's a quite unique slice of life story and with its very pessimistic attitude must have somehow escaped the attention of Goebbels while still at script level.
